Do you feel like your home looks a mess? If so, it may be the right time to remove some of the clutter so that you can make it look more livable and welcoming again. There are plenty of things you can do to easily transform the home without putting in too much work or effort.

Go Through Your Stuff: Pick Items to Store Away

The first step to removing clutter from the home is to go through your belongings and really get rid of the items you do not need. However, there may be items you currently do not need, but plan to use again in the future. For example, lamps, tables, couches and other types of furniture may be put to good use in the future if you plan to move or hand those items down to someone else when they have a place of their own. If there are things you are not currently using but would like to keep, putting them in a storage unit is a great idea.

If you are worried about the cost of a storage unit, you can easily rent out one of the smaller space and make the most of the space available to you. The best way to make the most of the space is to focus on the right placement of the items. For example, instead of placing a couch down like you normally would inside the storage unit, consider placing it on its side so that it is taking up less space inside the unit. If you have any tables you are storing away, make sure to place your cardboard boxes and plastic storage containers on top of the tables. Not only is it a great way to save more space, but it also keeps items protected in the event of a flood.

Use Dollar Store Items to Help With Organization

Dollar store containers can come in handy for the items you are not planning to store away and are keeping inside the home. You may be able to find round plastic bins that can be used as storage for small toys, art supplies, and even your cleaning supplies. Along with round plastic storage bins, you may be able to find containers with lids that you can use for all of your cereals and snacks. Your kitchen may look a lot better if food items are carefully stored away in sealed containers so that there are not boxes of cereal and bags of snacks all over the pantry.

Eliminating clutter may seem like a lot of work, but there are easy ways to get it done. You may want to start by going though your belongings, figuring out what you want to keep and then storing away items that you may not currently use on a regular basis. Aside from the storage unit option, you can use storage containers and bins from the dollar store to help you store away item that may have otherwise been all over the floors and shelves of your home.
